Search engines aren’t perfect. They can’t find everything on their own. Submitting your website manually makes it easier for the major players to begin ranking your website for keywords. By submitting your website manually you can also give the search engines information they couldn’t figure out on their own such as the importance of each of your website’s pages.

Understand XML Sitemaps. This is another form of site map that is only visible to search bots, not to users. This is not a replacement for an HTML site map; it's generally a good idea to have both.[6] The XML Sitemap provides meta information to search engines, notably how often pages are updated. This can increase the speed that Google indexes new or updated content on your site.[7]
Back-of-the-book-style web indexes may be called "web site A-Z indexes".[2] The implication with "A-Z" is that there is an alphabetical browse view or interface. This interface differs from that of a browse through layers of hierarchical categories (also known as a taxonomy) which are not necessarily alphabetical, but are also found on some web sites. Although an A-Z index could be used to index multiple sites, rather than the multiple pages of a single site, this is unusual.
If you have a lot of errors on your site for Google, Google will start crawling slowly too. To speed up the crawl process, fix those errors. Simply 301 redirect those erroring pages to proper URLs on your site. If you don’t know where to find those errors: log into Google Search Console. If you have access to your site’s access logs, you can also look at those, preferably with a tool like Screaming Frog’s Log file analyzer. To prevent your site from being crawled slowly, it’s important that you regularly look at your site’s errors and fix them. We have a more extensive article on fixing 404 errors to help with that.
Even if you submit URL to Google, their AI not only needs to classify and register the data on your website, it also has to evaluate whether your content is good, and relevant for competitive keywords or just an unintelligible spam fest that got pumped with tons of backlinks. This means it’s possible your website was crawled, but the link indexing process is still underway.
The crawling process begins with a list of web addresses from past crawls and sitemaps provided by website owners. As our crawlers visit these websites, they use links on those sites to discover other pages. The software pays special attention to new sites, changes to existing sites and dead links. Computer programs determine which sites to crawl, how often and how many pages to fetch from each site.
First of all, you’ll need quality content. If you’re running an affiliate marketing site, create your money article and at least five supporting articles. If you’re running an e-commerce business, consider adding a Blog to your site to speed up the link indexing process (your blog posts are linkable assets that can generate direct traffic and activity to your site).

Web indexing (or Internet indexing) refers to methods for indexing the contents of a website or of the Internet as a whole.
